Bay Area Californian Elizabeth Parashis began her art career as a self-taught artist with a realistic style. As she became aware of the artworld around her, she joined classes at West Valley Community College and later, after raising her famaily, began her own life drawing sessions where she developed in a more impressionistic and expressive vein. Her colors are clear and her brushstrokes sure with subject matter mainly male and female nude & clothed figures, animals, landscapes and nature in general. Having shown and sold in numerous group and one-person shows, Elizabeth now has expanded her artworld to include "art and the spoken word" events entitled "THURSDAY GIG", held once a month. The Gigs feature an artist and poet or author and are followed by an Open Mic period. These are potluck events with much socializing.
